Daddy's Newest Invention

Look what my sweet husband did to my poor baby. We were at Wal-Mart and it was time for Lawson to eat. Mat was holding the bottle and pushing the cart while I was picking up our items. I noticed Mat had stopped and was doing something with the baby. I had a feeling he was coming up with some clever way to not have to hold the bottle. Not to my surprise, he took the toys that were velcroed to the handle of the car seat and attached the bottle to now have an "on-the-go bottle holder." Lawson didn't seem to mind. He simply turned his head and kept on eating. Mat was so proud of his latest invention; he took a picture with his phone. Just one of my many joys of being married to this imaginative man.

Branson Weekend Trip

Last weekend we went to Branson for a little get-a-way. I guess I was really the one who wanted to get away. We had a good time even though the weather didn't cooperate. My plan was to go to Silver Dollar City, but the cold and rain kept us away.  I know Easton would have loved it, but maybe next time. We left on Friday and the 3 hour drive took us about 5 hours with all the stops, bathroom breaks, diaper changes, etc. I guess I am kinda weird, but I like the adventure of taking them somewhere. It is always a challenge, but we are making memories, right? When we got there, we got checked in and then went to play indoor putt putt golf. Easton absolutely loves it. He hits the ball really hard and gets it down near the hole and then picks it up and puts it right beside the hole and hits it in. We all cheer and he is ready to go to the next one. Mat and I played with him some, but really we were just there to have another ball for him to hit in. If we didn't make a hole-in-one, our turn was over. Easton took it from there. : ) After golf, we walked around inside the Grand Country plaza and found some video games. Mat and Easton played a few, but Easton is still too young to really understand them. We ate pizza and called it a night. The next day it was raining again but we headed down to Branson Landing to the Build-a-Bear store. Easton picked out a turtle, stuffed it, named it Tommy Turtle and dressed it in Pirate Jammies. Next, we took the whole family, including Tommy Turtle, to the ice cream shop next door. Easton loves ice cream just like his daddy. We walked around a little at the Landing, but it was really too cold for the kids so we decided to go back to the hotel and relax. (watched tv, took a nap, etc)  That evening we went to none other than the famous Olive Garden and enjoyed some good soup and breadsticks. Yum Yum!!  It wouldn't be vacation without Olive Garden or Red Lobster. Easton wanted to go play golf again so we went back to the indoor putt putt and let him have fun. He was so funny watch. When he hits the ball, he runs as fast as he can to catch up with it and wack it again. The next morning, we all woke up not feeling well and Easton had around 102 fever. Needless to say, we decided to head home. It was kinda a rough trip home with him not feeling well, but we made it. He is doing much better now. We think we all must have caught something while we were gone. It is nothing serious, just fever and sore throat stuff. Besides the getting sick part, we had fun and it was nice to get out of town for a few days.  I love to watch Easton have fun. I am sure our trips will only get more exciting as Lawson gets big enough to enjoy them, too.

He really does talk about Tiger when he wants to play golf.

Even though Easton was really too tall for the kiddy putter,
he wanted to use it because it was blue.

Happy Easter 2008!

We had a wonderful Easter Sunday last week. Easton was very excited about hunting eggs and finding them. We had a trial run in the living room the night before. I would hide the eggs and he would find them. Then he decided he wanted to hide them and let me find them. We had a good time. Before we went to bed that night, he was hiding and then finding his own eggs. The next morning, Easton got a little Easter surprise from us. Our church had a big hunt for all the kids after Sunday morning service. He was so excited. When they said go, he started running as fast as he could. He would stop occasionally and pick up an egg, but then take off like lightning to find another one. The funny thing was that he would pass up 10 eggs to go for the "one" that he wanted. After it was over he poured all his eggs out and inspected them like any good little boy. He immediately wanted to hide them and hunt them again like we had done the night before. We did have a slight break down when he realized that he couldn't do it again and again. Little Lawson stayed inside the church with Nana because it was too cold and windy for him to watch big brother. After the hunt, we went to my Grandma Lawson's house for lunch. We ate a big meal and then Easton took his eggs back out in the yard to play. When we got home, Nana and Papa came over and gave the boys their Easter presents. It was a full day of fun, food, and too much candy. : ) Here are a few pictures from the big day.
Happy Easter!

Lawson 4 months old

My Milestones at 4 months:

I weigh 17 pd 2 oz (90%) and I am 27 inches tall (95%). The doctor says I am well proportioned. I am big just like my brother was.

I still eat 5 - 5 1/2 0z every 3 to 4 hours, except at night.

I am taking 3 to 4 naps a day. Sometimes they are long and sometimes they are short. I sleep in my crib in my room for my naps, but still sleep in the cradle in momma and daddy's room at night.

I am sleeping on my tummy all the time now. I sleep for longer periods of time at night now, but still haven't matched the 7 1/2 hours I slept the first time I slept on my tummy. I was just letting momma know how I like to lay.

I am a very happy baby. I love to smile and laugh. I can laugh out loud now, which is lots of fun.
My big brother talks to me a lot more now. He even greets me when momma and I come home from her Bible study class. Easton says, "Hey, baby Wahson" first and then says hi to momma.

I am getting stronger everyday. I can support myself on my legs and can sit supported.

I love to pull the passy out of my mouth and then try to put it back in again. Sometimes I make it, but basically, I just slobber all over the place.

I can hold toys in my hands now and try to put them in my mouth.

I haven't actually cut a tooth yet, but I am teething. Momma can feel the teeth below my gums in my mouth. She says it won't be long now and maybe my mouth will feel better.

Dr. Moore says I am "socially advanced." I was scared of him at our appointment and he said that I shouldn't be scared of him until the 6 month appointment. I don't know, but I do notice everything that is going on around me and I like girl's voices a lot better than men's voices.

I still love the sound of the hair dryer when I am mad or sleepy, but momma has discovered that I also love the sound of the vent over stove. It is quicker and more convenient.

Momma gave me cereal for the first time last Sunday. To everyone's surprise, I didn't like it. I spit it out and even gagged a few times. Momma is still trying and I am sure I will get the hang of it soon. After that, I get to try some yummy veggies.

Most people say I look like my brother and my daddy, but some people lately have been saying I look like my momma. I don't know what I look like. I haven't discovered myself in the mirror yet.

I am very close to rolling over, but haven't made it all the way. Momma says I need more "tummy time."

I have grown a lot in one month - 3 pounds! I have moved up to 6-9 month clothing which means I am now wearing some of my brothers clothes from when he was a baby. Momma was so excited!  Easton wore these clothes in the fall of 05.

I love all of my family, but I am still a momma's boy right now.

When I grow up...

I asked Easton what he was gonna be when he grows up and he said, "When I grow up, I'm gonna be a baseball player. I'm gonna get my bat and my hat and I'm gonna hit my ball." I then asked what Lawson was gonna be. Easton said, "He's gonna be a super-hero." Easton asked me, "What are you gonna be when you grow up, momma?" I said I'm gonna be a mommy. He said, "NO...you gonna be a soccer ball player."  He's got us all figured out.

Spring and Snow

Here are some pictures that I have been meaning to post for a few weeks now. I am falling behind. On March 1st, it was so pretty outside. We went up to Nana's house and enjoyed a play-day outside. It was wonderful to feel the fresh air and let Easton run around and be a boy. We were surprised at how much bigger he was and how much he could do on own his after the winter. He can now climb up and slide down all by himself. I was a little nervous watching him climb the ladder alone, but I have to let him grow up. He even went down the "big" slide and loved it!
"Look at me, momma, here I go!"

Wow, that was fast!

Pure Joy!

Lawson's first time to swing. We propped him up so he would be comfy. The blanket also worked as a shade to keep the sun off his head.

Me and my boys... I love them soo much!

Then 3 days later...it snowed! Good ole Arkansas weather. Me and my snow bunny.

Easton can always count on his dad to play with him. They made half of a snowman, lots of snow balls, and something Easton calls snow "fireworks." I still haven't figured that one out.

That morning when Easton woke up, I told him that I thought it snowed. He said, "Is it Kwismas (Christmas)?" I said, no, but let's go look outside. We went to the door and opened it and he said, "Momma, IT IS KWISMAS!" He was convinced. He started asking about Santa Claus and presents. Later on when the snow melted, he went to the door and said, very sadly, "Momma, it's not kwismas anymore." It was precious. I just love that little boy!!

Lawson Slept All Night!

Last night Lawson slept for 7 1/2 hours by himself in his cradle. It was wonderful. Yes, I did check on him several times to make sure he was still breathing, but the long night's rest was much needed for both of us. I know they say not to lay them on their tummy's, but this is the only way little Lawson will sleep. I have had trouble with him sleeping ever since he came home from the hospital. He wanted to be held all the time and so needing sleep myself, I gave in. Then he developed reflux and it made it even more difficult for him to sleep laying down, so I kept holding him. Right when the reflux was getting under control, he got sick and was sick for a couple of weeks. During all that time, I learned how to sleep all propped up in the bed holding him. We had our system of pillows that kept he and me all comfy and safely propped up. It was not the best sleep for me but it was sleep. Occasionally, he would sleep in his car seat or the swing or bouncer, but never in his cradle laying down. We started putting him on his tummy for nap-time and discovered he would sleep for longer periods of time without being held. I finally got up the nerve to try it at night. I think he is strong enough and has good enough head control to handle it now. I am so glad I did!!! I pray that this was not a fluke thing. I pray that he continues with this. I will probably still get up and make sure he is breathing for several nights, but at least we are all in separate beds now. Joy, Joy!!!
